How cold-hardy is a Persian Bearss lime tree?
It is the most cold-tolerant of all the true lime varieties. While lime trees generally hate the cold, a mature Bearss lime can tolerate brief temperature drops down to around 30°F. However, if you live in a climate with hard winter freezes, it's best to grow it in a pot so you can roll it indoors.
When are Bearss limes ready to pick?
They typically ripen from late summer through winter. While we associate limes with a bright green color, Bearss limes actually turn a pale, greenish-yellow when they are fully ripe and at their absolute juiciest. You can pick them when they are green, but letting them yellow slightly yields the most juice!
